On behalf of my staff, Cailyn, Chad, Joanne and myself, we want to thank you for supporting Olive Lucy over the past few months as we figured out how to continue to bring you your favorite products during the pandemic. We appreciate your commitment to our small business as well as your patience. Your online, call-in and Farmer’s Market orders have helped us keep the lights on and gives us hope that we will be able to reopen our Jenkintown store to our beloved customers on July 1st.
We’ve missed you and are looking forward to having you safely return to the store. We want to hear about all the great meals you made while you were at home. Maybe you found some new favorite dishes or there are some you tired of and are now looking for something new to try! However, as excited as we are to have you back in the store, we’d like to share some important changes we’ve made to help protect both you and our staff.
During the month of June, the staff and I will continue to prepare the store for your return. We have installed a plexi-shield at the register counter and stocked up on hand sanitizer and PPE for both the staff and customers. We are updating our policies, procedures and training on new cleaning protocols handed down by the Health Department, CDC and OSHA.
Store Hours: While we remain in the Yellow-phase of the Governor’s and Department of Health’s plan for re-opening our area, we are encouraging everyone to continue to place orders online for local delivery, shipping, curbside pick-up and Farmer’s Markets pick-up, between now and the end of June. Starting July 1st, we are planning to reopen the store with normal hours Tuesday through Friday 10am-6pm and on Saturdays 10am-4pm, though we will be closed for the 4th of July. These hours will go into effect, provided that the conditions remain the same and/or move to the green phase of the reopening plan.
Curbside Pick-up: In June, we are offering limited curbside pick-up on Saturday June 13th and June 27th from 10am-2pm. Orders can be placed online in advance and in the comments section you can let us know which day you are picking up. You may also place orders over the phone on Saturday and provide us with approximately 30 minutes to fill and prepare your order for pick-up. We respectfully request that all orders be called in by 1:00pm so that we have time to complete all orders for pick-up by 2:00pm. Any orders not picked up by 2:00pm will be delivered or held for the next available pick-up day. You can call 215-690-4318 to place your order and to let us know when you are at the corner for pick-up.
Store Capacity: Because of the cozy nature of our store and the new guidelines for social distancing, we are limited to no more than 3 customers in our store at a time. We hope everyone will be respectful and practice social distancing while in the store.
Cleaning & Sanitization: Upon entering our store, you will now find a bottle of hand sanitizer available for customer and staff use. We would appreciate everyone’s cooperation in sanitizing their hands upon entry. Additionally, the bathroom is now equipped with a touchless soap dispenser. We will continue to sanitize high touch surfaces throughout the day, including door handles, counter tops and shelving. Our staff will be sanitizing and washing their hands frequently during their shifts as well. Finally, at the end of the day, the store will be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the next day.
Masks: Under the current Commonwealth Order and CDC guidelines, masks are required to be worn in our store. If you do not have one, we will be happy to provide one for you as we have a supply of disposable masks. The staff and I will be wearing them as well. If you require accommodation under the ADA, and are not able to wear a facemask or need to see our mouths when in the store, we have a limited supply of disposable face shields that we can use. Once the orders have been lifted and restrictions eased, but until there is a vaccine in place, we will continue to wear facemasks and face shields and encourage customers to do so as well to help protect our staff and other customers. Please remember, that we wear our masks to protect others, including our friends, loved ones and family.
Tastings: One of the biggest changes we have had to make is to our tasting policy. We are no longer offering in-store tastings from our taster bottles and tanks. You will no longer see our taster bottles and tasting cups next to our tanks or at the Farmer’s Markets. However, if there is a new flavor you would like to try when you are at the store, we are happy to pour you a ½ oz sample to take with you and try at home. Hopefully the next time you are in you’ll pick up a bottle or two.
Check-in on Facebook: To help customers try new flavors and expand our social media reach, we will be starting our new “check-in on Facebook” Flavor of the Month program. Each month for the remainder of 2020, we will feature a different Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Flavored Olive Oil or Balsamic Vinegar and if you “check-in” to @olivelucypa on Facebook when you come to our store, you will receive a FREE 60ml bottle of our Flavor of the Month. It’s a great way to try a new flavor.
Bottles: You will find pre-filled 60ml, 200ml and 375ml bottles of most of our extra virgin olive oils, flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars throughout the store. These bottles have been cleaned and disinfected. If there are no bottles on the shelf of a product you would like or if you need of a 750ml bottle(s), the staff will fill them upon request. For the 750ml bottles, to help expedite the purchase process, if you know you are coming in for 750ml bottles, please call ahead of time at 215-690-4318 and we can prefill them and have them ready for you upon your arrival.
Pantry Items: Pantry items will remain on our shelves. To help reduce contact, we respectfully ask that unless you are planning to purchase an item, please refrain from touching it. It is difficult to disinfect each package repeatedly. If you have questions about a product, please ask our staff and they will be happy to help with any of your questions.
Again, we wish to thank everyone for their continued patience and support as we navigate these new times. We hope we will be able to proceed as planned, but will keep you posted on any changes we may need to make as we get closer to July.
